Misery Island, Salem, MA

I took a boat ride with a friend this past weekend to Misery Island, out in the middle of Salem Sound.  It was just the perfect day, warm but no humidity, and plentiful sunshine. We had a two hour window to hike and take photos before the boat picked us up again.

It was a lovely way to spend a late summer day.

Salem, MA, Maritime Festival

I headed out to the festival yesterday with my meetup group.  It was hot and sunny most of the morning, and we talked to park rangers,  sailors, and Coast Guardsmen.  Lots of history and fun.

Tower Hill Botonic Garden in high summer

My sister-in-law and I drove out to Central Massachusetts yesterday to visit the day lily exhibit at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden.  It was a lovely summer day, overcast but warm, and not hot.  It was just the perfect day to walk among the various gardens all showing off their full summer glory.
